About Carol Chan


Carol is originally from Hong Kong. She immigrated to Canada and has called Richmond Hill home for over 30 years, where she has raised three children.

In Hong Kong, she was a supervisor and a principal in an elementary school. Her passion for education carries on to this day through her work as an Early Childhood Supervisor and as an Intensive Behavioural Intervention Therapist, serving children with disabilities and special needs.

Throughout her career in education, Carol has been an administrator in the York Region District School Board and Separate District School Board International Languages Program and an Assistant in the Special Needs Program.

She has volunteered for Scouts Canada, was a Head Teacher in her church at the Children’s Ministry of Richmond Hill Chinese Christian Church, and was a parent council member for the Air Cadets and Vision Youth, helping youth become leaders of tomorrow. She is also a Director of SEAS Centre.

Carol believes in promoting excellence through family values and quality education, and has since been a York Region School Board Trustee from 2010-2018. She expanded IB and Arts Programs to high schools throughout York Region.

In the past 2 years, she created Parents Walk and Talk Volunteer Group by hosting daily morning exercise and different mental health topics with parents.
